Sofia Cardoso Monteiro Signorelli joined the Business Ready Unit in July 2024, and currently works on Business Insolvency Topic. She graduated cum laude in International Relations and Economics from IBMEC/RJ and in Law from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She furthered her education with an MSc in Finance from COPPEAD/UFRJ and an LLM in International Business Law from Georgetown University. Currently, she is completing her Ph.D. in Commercial Law at the University of São Paulo. As a Fulbright scholar, Sofia had the opportunity to serve as a visiting scholar at George Washington University. Following two years of experience as a private lawyer, she joined the Brazilian Competition Authority (Cade) as a General-Coordinator. In this role, she was responsible for analyzing mergers and monopolization cases in various service sectors, with a particular focus on Health, Education, Retail, and Financial sectors. Sofia later transitioned to a clerkship with a Justice at the Brazilian Supreme Court, where she concentrated on the Economic Analysis of Law. She eventually left this position to dedicate herself to her academic career. Sofia is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and has reading proficiency in French and Italian.
