Debasmita Padhi is an Analyst in the Global Indicators Group Front Office. She joined the Business Ready team in July 2023 as a Data Analyst. In her current role, she provides research and technical support to the Director, as well as the Business Ready and Women, Business and the Law projects. Previously, she was a Robert S. McNamara Research Fellow with Development Impact Evaluation (DIME) , where she worked with the governance and institutions team. Prior to joining the World Bank, Debasmita managed the scale-up of evidence-based programs at J-PAL South Asia with Government and non-Government partners. She has worked extensively on field experiments in South Asia to evaluate the impact of education programs in collaboration with economists, and policy makers. She holds an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Delhi, India. She speaks Hindi and Odia.
