Alessio Zanelli
- Senior Private Sector Specialist, Subnational Business Ready
Alessio Zanelli, an Italian national, joined the World Bank Group in 2009. Prior to his current assignment, Zanelli served as Senior Private Sector Specialist in the Global Investment Climate team, advising national and subnational governments on reforms to enhance the business environment and promote private sector growth. He has extensive experience as both a team and a technical lead in Europe and the Middle East, as well as in Sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia. Throughout his tenure at the World Bank Group, Zanelli has participated in nonlending and lending operations across more than 30 countries. In addition, he has coauthored policy notes, reform memoranda, and blogs and led subnational benchmarking projects in Egypt and Italy. Zanelli holds a degree in political science, focusing on comparative and international law, from the University of Trieste, and an MSc in European political economy from the London School of Economics.
