2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Austria joining the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)¡ªalso known as the World Bank. This was the first milestone in a collaboration based on the shared belief in development cooperation. Having experienced its benefits first-hand in the aftermath of World War II, Austria, through the Federal Ministry of Finance, became a trusted contributing partner over time. The relationship has been further strengthened with the opening of a World Bank Group (WBG) office in Vienna, which today is a hub for WBG operations in Europe & Central Asia, and beyond.
