CSF has a Market Entry and Expansion project which aims to support high-potential tech companies to accelerate their entry and expansion into emerging markets or grow their business through expanding into new verticals or (sub-)sectors. Under this project; IFC is working with an energy management systems company (the ¡°Company¡±) that developed a propriety system consisting of Internet of Things (IoT) devices for capturing energy consumption and a web-based visualization and analytics dashboard that supports maintenance teams to identify inefficiencies and optimize their energy usage. The Company is servicing clients across a wide range of sectors/industries. Having demonstrated a good growth trajectory in their home market; and having deployed their solution in several other countries; the Company is now focusing on its next phase of growth; which includes refining its product offering and value proposition; and expanding into new markets predominantly in Europe; Middle East; and Africa. With increasing public and private sector attention to reducing GHG emissions the Energy Management Systems (EMS) market represents a significant opportunity for growth. During the past two decades significant efforts have gone into developing standards (i.e.; ISO 50001; Energy Star) for hardware and software solutions; and commercial/industrial Energy Service Company (ESCO) models have emerged to serve the increasing demand. However; many ESCO companies have failed to scale for various reasons; including due to the differences in priorities; equipment and needs of different sectors and individual organizations; which requires significant adaption when deploying energy management systems; which is both time consuming and costly. Except in very high energy intensive sectors; energy management and optimization is typically not a high priority for senior management; so it can sometimes be difficult to get client¡¯s attention and have them prioritize action in this area. To help IFC and the Company better understand the EMS competitive landscape; and determine strategic pathways for the Company; IFC is now seeking to recruit an experienced consulting firm to undertake a global market assessment of the energy management systems and IoT sector; and to evaluate and benchmark the company¡¯s products and technology ¨C hardware and software stack; business model; etc.; against others in the market and provide actionable recommendations to help the Company scale their offerings in their next phase of growth.
