Alex Sienaert is the Lead Economist for Nigeria, based in Abuja, where he heads the program on macroeconomics, trade and investment. Previously, at the World Bank, he completed corporate assignments to the Treasury and Credit Risk Departments in Washington, DC, and country assignments to Indonesia, Mauritius and Kenya. His analytical and operational work at the Bank has focused on macroeconomics and fiscal policy, government debt management, economic policy reform support, and sovereign credit risk. Earlier in his career, Alex worked in emerging markets economics, and currency and rates strategy, at Standard Chartered Bank and JP Morgan. A graduate of the University of Cape Town and a Rhodes Scholar, he earned his doctorate in economics at the University of Oxford.
