Eligibility
CMIP is for up to a maximum of 36 months from ending AMIP if enrollment has been made within 60 days from the date when the AMIP coverage ends. CMIP is available to:
- Former staff covered by the MIP and their family members, who previously had AMIP coverage and are eligible for medical plans. Staff terminated for fraud or misconduct are excluded.
- Divorcees.
- Surviving spouse/registered domestic partner of an active staff member who is not eligible for Retiree Medical Insurance Plan (RMIP) as a survivor.
- Biological or legally adopted dependent children or step-children of a current spouse or domestic partner registered with the World Bank Group upon attainment of 26 years of age.
Exception: A child who meets the criteria of disability or handicap, as determined and approved by the insurance administrator, is eligible for continued AMIP coverage. The child¡¯s disability or handicapped status must be determined and approved before the child¡¯s 25th birthday or a month following the 25th birthday at the latest. - Newborn child of a CMIP member if, at the termination of the AMIP, the staff enrolling in CMIP is expecting a baby and has paid for the CMIP option that includes the coverage for the unborn child.
Considerations for Enrollment
Generally, a staff member enrolled in the CMIP may not add new eligible family members for medical plans as the result of marriage, birth, or legal adoption. However, if, at the time of termination of AMIP, the staff member or the person who wishes to participate in the CMIP is expecting a baby, s/he can pay for the CMIP option that includes the coverage for the unborn child. The newborn child would also be an eligible family member for medical plans when s/he is born.
The plan member pays the entire cost of CMIP coverage. This cost may be adjusted each year at the same time MIP premiums are adjusted, usually January 1 for active staff and retirees.
Billing is monthly, directly between Aetna and the plan member. The plan member is responsible for informing Aetna of billing address changes. Plan members can pay in advance for future coverage, but non-payment for any reason cancels CMIP coverage without possibility of reinstatement.
Attention:
The Bank Group cannot and will not intervene in any billing dispute.
Under CMIP, all AMIP provisions and benefits remain in effect. A CMIP member is subject to the same periodic plan design changes and premium adjustments as any other MIP member.
CMIP coverage is with the same administrator¡ªAetna or Cigna¡ªthat was in effect when AMIP eligibility ended. Currently, Aetna handles all monthly billing, even if CMIP claim administration is with Cigna International Health Services.
A plan member may reduce coverage at the time of enrollment into CMIP. Example: Family to individual. However, the plan member must remain in the same Active Staff Option or Retiree Plan with the same insurance administrator as the one during the group coverage.
