Guyana has a low population density, with 90 percent of its approximately 779,004 inhabitants living on the narrow coastal plain, which represents 10 percent of the country¡¯s area. Coastal flooding, exacerbated by climate change, is a serious risk, as much of Guyana¡¯s population and economic activity.
