5th World Bank Contractual Savings Conference

The 5th World Bank Contractual Savings Conference was be held on January 9-11, 2012 at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC. The conference was entitled "Reshaping the Future of Funded Pension Systems".

The 5th World Bank Contractual Savings Conference will provide a platform for discussing the lessons learned from our client countries over the past three years, and also presents an opportunity to share regional experiences. ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº team will also disseminate the policy work that can be used in reshaping the future of funded systems in emerging economies.

Some of the topics to be addressed at the conference include:

  • Second Pillars Under Attack: Lessons from the Crisis
  • Implementing Life-cycle Investment Strategies in Defined Contribution Systems
  • Guarantees in Defined Contribution Systems: Who Pays the Bill?
  • Risk Management of Pension Funds: Are Defined Contribution Systems Ready for Introducing Risk Based Supervision?
  • Regulating Variable Annuities in Competitive Markets
  • Do NDC Systems Work in Countries other than Sweden?
  • Are Pension Systems in BRIC Countries Sustainable?
  • DB Systems in Emerging Economies: Setting Up Sustainable Parameters
  • Pension Systems in Africa: How Fair are they?
  • Longevity Bonds in Emerging Markets: Any Progress?

The event will be conducted in English. Spanish and Russian simultaneous translation will be provided.

As in previous years, the Contractual Savings Conference attracts senior policy makers, regulators and supervisors who are involved with pension funds systems, both in the retirement and payout phase; pension fund managers and managers from life insurance companies; academics; officials from international financial organizations; pension fund managers associations; and staff from the World Bank Group, and International Monetary Fund.
