ľ¹ÏÓ°Ôº Group¡¯s Trust Funds and Partnerships (DFPTF) in cooperation with the World Bank Tokyo Office held the 9th Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) Dialogue Seminar, "Improving Primary Education Outcomes for the Most Vulnerable Children in Rural Mongolia¡± on November 18, 2016.

This session highlighted the achievements of one of the JSDF¡¯s project in Mongolia "Improving Primary Education Outcomes for the Most Vulnerable Children in Rural Mongolia¡± by bringing together key stakeholders involved in the project. This seminar presented an overview of the preparation, implementation, and results of this project. The implementing agency, Save the Children Japan, together with project beneficiaries, joined the session via video conferencing from their respective project location, to present the key challenges and successes in project implementation.

The ¡°Improving Primary Education Outcomes for the Most Vulnerable Children in Rural Mongolia¡± aims to improve the education outcomes of the most vulnerable children (aged 5 to 10) in four educationally underperforming and underserved rural provinces of Mongolia. The project promotes innovative initiatives to improve education services and facilities at the local level, and to mobilize parents and community members. These initiatives are well suited to the needs of herding communities and effectively reduced the number of school dropouts and out-of-school children.

Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF)
The Government of Japan and the World Bank established JSDF in June 2000, with the goal of providing grants to support community-driven development and poverty reduction projects that empower and directly improve the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable groups not reached by other programs. A unique and valued feature of the JSDF program is that it provides a platform for cooperation with non-governmental agencies and other local stakeholders in the development process.
