Sustainable and Inclusive Finance Forum 2020

This forum aims to showcase Malaysia¡¯s innovations in sustainable and inclusive finance including those supported by the World Bank Group Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub in Malaysia. As part of this forum, the World Bank will be launching several reports that highlight Malaysia¡¯s experience in the area of financial sector development and provide lessons for other countries seeking to undertake similar development initiatives. Malaysia¡¯s experience provides important examples of how the development of new policy and financing instruments can be deployed to promote better outcomes in sustainable finance and Islamic financing. The forum also seeks to contribute to global dialogue in these areas; and to help policy makers, financial regulators, banking associations and financial institutions in all countries learn about recent developments and trends in sustainable and inclusive finance.

    Building on two new World Bank reports on Leveraging Islamic Fintech for Financial Inclusion and the case of Islamic Finance and Financial Inclusion in Malaysia, this session will explore the use of Islamic finance instruments to support financial inclusion, including policy, regulatory and institutional elements required for the sustainable use of Islamic finance.
