9th Global Affordable Housing Conference

The 9th Global Affordable Housing Conference, held on May 31- June 2, 2023 at the World Bank Group Headquarters in Washington D.C., brought together high-level officials, practitioners, successful entrepreneurs, and academicians from developed countries and emerging markets to provide a unique platform to share information, learn about the latest innovation and network with peers. This year¡¯s conference theme was ¡°Looking ahead: unlocking access to affordable, green and resilient housing through innovation¡±. While the need for massive investment in the affordable housing sector have never been higher, countries all over the world are facing difficult macroeconomics conditions, and households have a lower purchasing power, while having to deal with increased construction costs and face the impact of climate change. To make a significant, and lasting impact in addressing the affordable housing gap, we must look for innovative ways to build and finance resilient, green affordable housing.
