Climate change and policies to mitigate it are redistributing comparative advantages and reshaping countries¡¯ trade patterns. While developing country trade could be adversely affected, the green transition also offers opportunities for developing countries to participate in the production of green technologies and services.

The session explored how climate mitigation policies in advanced countries affect trade and development in low- and middle-income countries. A panel discussed the potential unintended consequences of these policies, how to prevent them, and the role of advanced economies and the global community in supporting developing nations¡¯ trade-driven growth. The discussion also explored what developing countries can do to leverage trade for climate resilience while staying competitive in key export markets.
