This event looks at lessons from the World Bank Group Country Climate and Development Reports for Yemen and Djibouti. While the context in these two neighboring countries differ greatly, the two reports look at how climate action can be integrated into development in countries that face unique challenges. Yemen’s CCDR addresses the nexus of climate, conflict, and development, stressing water security, food resilience, and the potential of area-based adaptation approaches. Djibouti’s CCDR focuses on the challenges climate change poses to the country’s role as the transport hub for the Horn of Africa and to its coastal economy, and shows pathways to sustainable urban growth, water security, and resilience infrastructure. This event will look at the role of governments and organizations in inclusive efforts for vulnerable populations, best practices, and financing mechanisms for implementation.
