There are now more than 7 billion people on Earth. By 2050, there will be more than 10 billion¨C and all of them will need to eat every day. Today, nearly a billion people are undernourished despite the fact that there is more than enough to feed everybody. This month¡¯s episode looks at the basic problems of food security as we try to understand why hunger went from generally decreasing to growing for the last six years¨Clong before the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
Jason Fields is joined by Hanane Ahmed, a senior agriculture economist, and Christopher Ian Brett, a lead agribusiness specialist, both of whom work for the World Bank.
