The conflict in Thailand's southernmost provinces (known locally as the "Deep South") has claimed over 5,000 lives since 2004. Livelihood projects, supported by the Korea Trust Fund for Economic and Peace-Building Transitions, such as bird cage-making and food production, not only generates income but can strengthen social ties, which is particularly important in conflict-affected areas.
