East African governments are prioritizing access to diagnostic services in an effort to curb the spread of communicable diseases in vulnerable groups in cross border areas. Since 2010, public health officials have mounted joint efforts to reach 4 million beneficiaries through a network of 32 upgraded laboratories in Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
