Mary's Magic Potatoes

The JSDF piloted an integrated approach to improve nutrition and food security to 19,200 vulnerable and poorest smallholder households in Mbara and Masaka districts of Uganda. The grant promoted the cultivation and consumption of nutrient-rich crops including bio-fortified high beta carotene ¨C precursor of vitamin-A rich Orange Flesh Sweet Potato (OFSP) - and improving nutrition and care practices of children under 2 years, adolescent girls, and pregnant women. Key results include: 16,506 beneficiaries trained and supplied with inputs; 8,331 children reached for growth monitoring and promotion sessions; 1,362 adolescent girls participated in education sessions.
