To demonstrate the World Bank Development Research Group in Kuala Lumpur's commitment to promoting high quality research papers, a recurring prize is granted to a Malaysian national for a paper that demonstrates excellence in research while addressing clear and compelling ways of presenting a key development policy issue in Malaysia and other developing countries. This year's prize was awarded to Woan Foong Wong for her work on The Implications of Transport Costs on International Trade Outcomes and Policies during the "Globalization: Contents and Discontents" conference.
