Average temperatures in the Sahel region of Africa could rise by as much as 3 degrees by 2050 and an additional 13.5 million people could fall into poverty because of climate change. At the same time, Sahel's population is the least responsible for its climate struggles: it accounts for as little as 1% of global emissions. But a safer climate future is possible. Investing $16 billion between now and 2030 can make a huge difference to boosting energy access, restoring land, expanding vital water and sanitary services and boosting adaptation.
