Mozambique is one of the few sub-Saharan countries with significant forest cover. Native forests and woodlands cover 43% of the country, harboring high biodiversity, unique landscapes and extensive socio-economic benefits. Forest and land degradation and deforestation, however, are threatening ecosystems and rural livelihoods. The Integrated Landscape Management Portfolio is working to increase the economic potential and conservation of native forests, develop a planted forest strategy, and support the Government of Mozambique in restoring degraded areas.
