Michelle Keane


Michelle Keane is the Operations Manager for Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. A dual Dutch and American national, she joined the World Bank in 2000 as Operations Officer for the Africa Country Director's Group. She has since held various positions focused on strategy development and operations in three regions.  Over the last decade, she has served as Operations Manager for Haiti and managed large post-disaster reconstruction and resilience programs in fragile and conflict affected states, IBRD clients, and high-income countries. 

With 20 years of operational experience at the World Bank in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and North Africa and the Middle East, she has contributed to the integration of disaster risk awareness, preparedness, and management across disciplines in several countries, from commodity risk management in West and Central Africa, to hurricane preparedness, flood prevention, and construction safety in Haiti. 

Ms. Keane holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Princeton University, USA, and a Master's degree in European Political and Governance Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.
