    Norman Loayza

    Norman Loayza is Director of the Global Indicators Group at the World Bank. Previously, he was a Lead Economist in the Development Research Group and managed the Asia hub of the Research Group, based in Malaysia. A Peruvian national, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University (1994).

    Manager, Business Ready (B-READY)
    About Valeria

    Valeria Perotti is the Manager of the Business Ready (B-READY) unit. She joined the team in December 2019, after holding several positions within the World Bank. As a Senior Economist with the Enterprise Surveys team, she led the implementation of the survey in several countries in East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, and she analyzed firm-level productivity in conjunction with skills and training issues. She holds a PhD in Econometrics and Empirical Economics from Tor Vergata University in Rome, and her research has focused on firm productivity, skills, labor market regulations, informality, life expectancy and applied micro-econometrics.

    Manager, Enterprise Analysis (EA)
    About Jorge

    Jorge Rodr¨ªguez Meza is the Manager of the Enterprise Analysis (EA) Unit. He joined the Unit in 2005. Prior to joining the Unit Jorge worked as Senior Researcher of the Rural Finance Program of the Ohio State University in the areas of financial inclusion, microfinance, and poverty measurement. During that time Jorge also worked as an external consultant for several organizations including the Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, and Women's World Banking. He is an Economist with a PhD from The Ohio State University and Master's Degree from Queen Mary and Westfield College of the University of London. Having worked in the topic for more than 10 years, Jorge has also become a survey specialist.

    Manager, Women Business, and the Law (WBL)
    About Tea

    Tea Trumbic is the Manager for the Women, Business and the Law (WBL) project. She has more than 12 years of experience helping governments reform laws and regulations to help create jobs and contribute to economic growth. She joined the World Bank in 2006, working on the Doing Business project on tax and credit information regulations. She has also developed indicators focusing on agribusiness regulations. Tea also worked at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Croatia and the International Monetary Fund. She holds a bachelor¡¯s degree in economics from Stanford University and a master¡¯s degree in economics from the London School of Economics.

    Program Manager, Subnational Business Ready (SN)
    About Madalina

    Madalina Papahagi is the Program Manager for the Subnational Business Ready Unit. She has more than 15 years of experience leading and conducting research and assessments of local business enabling environments in countries around the world. She joined the World Bank in 2001, where she first worked on operational quality in Africa region and then on investment climate advisory projects at the IFC office in Belgrade. Madalina holds an MBA from the American University in Washington DC, where she was a Fulbright scholar, and a BA from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. Before joining the World Bank, she worked in the banking sector in Romania.
