The poorest countries will bear the worst effects of climate change and the highest costs in terms of economic production and higher mortality. Globally, combating climate change will require changes in behavior and consumption patterns. The capacity of humans to change behaviors might be underestimated and shifts in consumption would need to be made primarily in industrialized countries.
During this ECA Talk, Professor Duflo will discuss the disproportionate impact of climate change on people in poverty, and why countries need to invest in policy innovation, not just technological innovation, to confront climate change. She will highlight why evidence on the impact of climate solutions is crucial for effective and equitable climate action.
