Peer-to-peer learning event: March 12-14, 2019, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The peer to peer learning event is integral to IBEP¡¯s Global Influence Window. The three day peer to peer learning event in Johannesburg, South Africa gathered 78 participants, including IBEP government counterparts, FCO colleagues, and Bank Group Staff members, including both global team members and IBEP country projects team members with the aim of fostering peer-to-peer learning among IBEP country projects¡¯ policymakers by sharing reform experiences in the core thematic areas of the IBEP program including business environment, investment policy and promotion, and markets and competition policy, as well as cross-cutting experience on gender and inclusion.
The event provided the opportunity for government officials to share and acquire knowledge, and to discuss solutions for increased economic empowerment of women through investment climate reforms. Participants were also provided with specific tools to operationalize the inclusion of gender elements in their respective country programs. Specific sessions addressed IBEP topics including:
- best practices in investment incentives design and administration;
- experiences with establishing regulatory oversight bodies;
- effectively open specific national and subnational markets to competition.
Investment Competitiveness Forum: October 24-27, 2017, Vienna, Austria.
The Forum launched of the Global Investment Competitiveness Report 2017/2018, and discussed critical questions related to FDI drivers and its contribution to development with senior policymakers, executives of multinational corporations, donor partners, academia, and World Bank Group staff. Following the report launch, the Investment Competitiveness Forum recognized developing country governments that have taken significant steps to implement investment policy reforms.
